Music – Garageband – Sampler (iPad version) skills checklist

Practise using the sampler to sample your djembe sounds and record a short repeating pattern. Next, check off what skills you have learned. Get a fellow student (peer) to confirm you can do it.

If you are uncertain about a skill, get one of your fellow students to show you.

 

 

Required skills – You HAVE to be able to do these.
A fellow student (peer) MUST confirm you have this skill and is allowed to show you how to do it.

 

 

File management: I can open Garageband and the sampler instrument.

 

 

Mixing: I can mix a basic song in Garageband (pan, volume, solo, mute).

 

 

File management: I can save a Garageband song.

 

 

Recording: Using the sampler, I can record a sample of my drum's sounds (bass, tone, slap).

 

 

Multi-tracking: I can create a sampler track for each drum sound.

 

 

Playback: I can record and play back a two-bar ostinato using the sampler.

I can save and name my samples (hint: use Library).

 

 

I can loop a drum part.

 

 

I can turn the metronome on and off.
