Impact and Value – Transform the environment for learning

The arts can transform the environment for learning by:

  • reaching students who have disengaged by providing them with multiple learning modalities – visual, auditory and kinaesthetic/tactile
  • providing new and different challenges for students that are already considered successful
  • connecting students to themselves and each other to work cooperatively within groups
  • providing life-long learning skills of critical, creative and divergent thinking, problem solving, collaboration, reflection and persistence
  • building bridges across language and cultural differences
  • connecting learning experiences to the real world
  • developing feeling and sensibility and a positive self-esteem
  • empowering students to continue searching beyond words and numbers for meaning and understanding
  • making schools spaces for collaboration and discovery.
