Managing Time – Characteristics of a high-quality arts program

They are:

  • inclusive – providing students with relevant, challenging and achievable arts opportunities that challenge prejudice and stereotyping
  • coherent – providing experiences where students learn as artists making (creating and performing) arts works that communicate to audiences, and where students learn as audiences by responding critically to the arts
  • purposeful – involving students in a creative inquiry-based process where autonomy and decision-making in arts making and responding are encouraged
  • progressive – providing students with repetition of arts practices across the bands of schooling to ensure ongoing refinement and consolidation of knowledge, understanding and skills.
